The expressway connects key cities and villages, improving connectivity between northern and southern Bihar. Major locations along the route include: Amas, Mathurapur, Guraru, Panchanpur, Bela, Ibrahimpur, Okri, Pabhera, Ramnagar, Sabalpur, Chaksikandar, Dabhaich, Bahuara, Shahpur Baghauni (Tajpur), Shiv Nandanpur (Burhi Gandak), Basudevpur, and Bela Nawada.
The project requires the acquisition of approximately 1,300 acres of land across 56 villages, with an estimated land acquisition cost of ₹6,927 crores. This fully access-controlled, four-lane expressway has provisions for future expansion to six lanes, aiming to boost trade, tourism, and connectivity in the region.
The Amas–Darbhanga Expressway project has been divided into four packages and awarded to the following construction companies: - Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd. (MEIL): Responsible for Packages 1, 2, and 3 (Amas to Balbhadrapur). - Ram Kripal Singh Construction Pvt. Ltd.: Handles Package 4 (Balbhadrapur to Bela Nawada). These companies are known for their expertise in large-scale infrastructure projects.
