On the eve of Vijay Diwas, the makers of Border 2 unleashed a thunderous teaser that has set the internet on fire and instantly locked Republic Day 2026 as the most anticipated movie weekend of the year.
The sequel to J.P. Dutta’s 1997 cult classic Border is now officially arriving in cinemas on 23rd January 2026 – perfectly positioned for the long Republic Day weekend, when patriotic films traditionally dominate the box office.

Helmed by Anurag Singh (director of Kesari) and produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series along with J.P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta, Border 2 is being touted as India’s most ambitious war film ever. For the first time in Hindi cinema, audiences will witness large-scale battles across land, air, and sea, recreating the heroism of the 1971 Indo-Pak war – specifically the historic Battle of Longewala.
Sunny Deol reprises his iconic role, delivering goosebump-inducing dialogues like “Awaaz kahan tak jaani chahiye? Lahore tak!” while shouldering a gun in a shot-for-shot tribute to the original. Joining him are Varun Dhawan, Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty (making his big action debut) – forming what fans are already calling the strongest ensemble of the decade.
